KEY TRUTH
Humility is not pretending you have no value. It is seeing yourself truthfully: made by God, dependent on grace, responsible for your choices, and called to consider others.
READ TOGETHER
Scripture foundation
Philippians 2:3–8
Jesus is the pattern of humble service, putting the good of others before status.
Romans 12:3
Faith calls us to sober, honest judgment about ourselves.

1 Peter 5:5–6

TEACH
The lesson
Humility tells the truth
Pride exaggerates or protects an image. Shame says you are worthless. Humility rejects both. It can name a gift without boasting and name a fault without collapsing.
Teachability is visible
A humble man can listen without preparing a defense. He asks questions, considers correction, and changes course when truth exposes a better way.
Service is not performance
Jesus used His authority to serve. Humble service seeks another person's good, not applause, control, or a debt that must later be repaid.
EXAMINE
Start with yourself
- 01Where do I become defensive most quickly?
- 02Do I minimize my gifts or exaggerate them?
- 03When did I last change because someone corrected me?
- 04Whom can I honor or serve without being noticed?
DISCUSS
Questions for the room
- 01How is humility different from low self-worth?
- 02What makes correction hard to receive?
- 03Where did Jesus show strength through service?
- 04What would teachability look like in your home or work this week?
PRACTICE TOGETHER
Receive before responding
- 01Ask a trusted person for one way you could listen, lead, or serve better.
- 02Do not explain or defend yourself while they answer.
- 03Repeat back what you heard and thank them.
- 04Choose one observable adjustment and follow up within seven days.
